We have heard about a lot of multi-millionaires around the world. We will look into a multi-millionaire, who reached that position by his own endeavor and hard work. He is Bill Gates. He has started his career as a software programmer and reached the well-off man in the world. He has made a mark in the society with his personality, vision and humanitarian endeavor done in American Society. We will look into one such cause, that is tutoring for the underprivileged.
Bill Gates has formed a establishment with his wife Melinda Gates to spread the endeavor to help lowly students of different communities. The establishment provides funding for students who are coming from very low income families. They have named the scholarships as Bill Gates Scholarships. The students from different ethnic groups like Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and Asian and Pacific Islanders are privileged under this scholarship. There are various scholarships based on the need of each classes.
The activities of the establishment varies according to the target. For historically black colleges, the establishment provides contribution according to their need.
Other than providing contribution to organization , establishment has their own list of scholarship programs. This program is known as Gates Millennium Scholars program alias Bill Gates Scholarship. For students with good credits in their hand, Bill Gates Scholarship is given. The major attraction of the scholarships of the establishment is that it does not have strict norms like other scholarship.
For graduate student scoring the degree or a GED makes them adequate for the scholarship while a grade of 3.3 can make you adequate for a scholarship. That is the difference of the scholarship provided by the establishment. It varies according situation.
The Nationality also will not be a barrier for availing scholarships from the establishment. If you are a permanent resident of US, you are adequate for the scholarship. The main vision of the establishment is to make students from different ethnic groups to enter into the science and technology field.
The amount provided as scholarship varies according to the classes the students are undergoing. An undergraduate student will get an average of $7000/year. A graduate student will be provided with $15000 an year. This will not fully cover the cost of colleges for the student. But will cover the major portion of the coaching fee. The aim is to support the student’s family.
